RE: Has anyone used windshields on their Atvs?

AC has the quick no tools detach and attach and i'm sure you can find others who make them that way. I just didnt know if the plastic would get all scratch and you couldnt see through even though we go through water just about on every trail and i could wash it down. With my trv I have not yet really had to lean over the handle bars, but from my accident I have learned to carry a good speed and winch if you think you cant make it. I'll be called a sissy on the trails for winching up a hill people could flip on. I almost died on a trail and was air lifted to UT medical to save my life I know my limits. I had a 400 LE from AC, but was so scared going over the littlest of objects I had to trade it cause i remembered my accident everytime i rode. Confidence is important when riding. But thanks for all the feedback. I think I am going to buy one since the only negative was really the detach, but since it is quick 10 second detach it should be cool.

Has anyone used windshields on their Atvs?

I have a AC TRV and my wife and I go riding alot with family on it. I really enjoy the ride, but I have been caught in the rain, snow, and dust and even though we go overly prepared I have thought about putting a windshield on my bike. AC offer a windshield that is tool-less removal in like a few seconds, but it is plastic and I didnt know if anyone knew if it scratched really easy or so is it worth the money?

RE: Who Makes the Best ATV and who makes the WORST

I respect everyone's opinion, and I am glad for the imput. I have only been on the site for less than a month. I just like seeing such diverse buyers from AC to Suzuki. Thats cool we all are riders and want to continue riding in the future so thats fine.

RE: Tires

Sorry, in a rush I see what you mean. I think for bang for your buck ITP mud lites xl, xxl, or xtr's are the best, but for mud I'm not sure. I have never got stuck, but i would like to see a side by side with mud lites and mudzillas or something comparable.

RE: Who Makes the Best ATV and who makes the WORST

They make the 650 H1 motor and the 1000cc motor. I'm not sure, but I think they might make the 366 motor. I am not sure on that. They buy the crate motor from suzuki for their models. They just expanded their Thief River Fall plant and look to be moving into making all there motors. I think 09 is the year they talked about dropping suzuki. They feel that their R&D department have made better engines for their bikes that create more power and save on more gas.

Tires

Simple right. Tires what do you ride on? Size, Name of the tire, and what do you think?
I ride on 25" ITP Mud lite XXL. I think these are the best mud tires on the market. They might not be the best mud tires, I have yet to see them take on so 30" Mudzillas (does any one have pics or storys on the mudzillas). The ITP xxl are great. My uncle has the Xtr radials which are good as well. I have been in some real nasty clay/mud and for the most part the ITPs can push through really well.

RE: Who Makes the Best ATV and who makes the WORST

I did not know it would be so heated, but then again if I asked what is better Chevy trucks or fords it would have been the same thing.
Utvs are really wide and tall and they are unstable in some terrain. On an ATV you can lean off the bike, but in a utv you are buckled in (if you are not your an idiot.) my pap's nephew was climbing a hill and it flipped 4 times and then the seat broke. he broke 3 bones in his spine and hurt his spleen, but he will live had he not had his belt he could have been crushed.
The prowler is the same width for the most part, but is a little taller to support a thick roll cage. i like that polaris razar, even though i hate polaris bikes it is a close thing to an atv. it is really tight to sit in for me. i rode one that had tracks on it that is cool.

RE: Who Makes the Best ATV and who makes the WORST

I am asking who you think makes the best. I have made my mind up. Thats the point. Your not going to change my mind I just wanted to know what others thoughts are. Do you get it now. you say it doesnt matter what you say I'm going to like AC. Your right, but I want to know what others think. Understand.
AC T-Cat does beat a renegade 800. seen it with my own eyes. Waynes Atv in Tennessee lined them up on the strip and the ren got destroyed. the longer the race the farther the distance. I also know you go right ahead and put a chip in an outty 800 and a pipe with the v-twin small truck engine that is in the t-cat i know some people who have altered the t-cat to 1600ccs.
AC is looking at R&D at the T-cat motor to put it in the prowler and had more ccs. about 1200 or so. Remember, AC started the displacement war when they dropped ccs in there sleds. Now, they are starting with ATVs.
I have my choice on ATVs. I like a few others, but AC is mine. I just want to know what you think or what is your opinion on who is the best and why?
UTVs such as prowler and rhino can go much more places than an atv. I have seen a prowler and a rhino go up almost a 50 degree slope and not even slip. (Its called the hole in the earth in Oneida,TN and is crazy steep. I took my trv up a little one no big deal ,but i'm too chicken to go up the steep one I've been in life star before)

RE: Who Makes the Best ATV and who makes the WORST

I love riding tight trails as well and I have never had a problem on my Arctic Cat. I also have rode very fast. 57 mph on a trail and i have a trv a longer bike. I have seen the thundercat and 800 outlander on the trail and sorry but my eyes saw the T cat destroy the outlander. Speed, agility, and confort due to the seat being down more in the bike. I believe alot of people have never rode an Arctic Cat and go by world of mouth of others. I went on a ride with 5 other polaris atvs. one 800, 2 500 and 2 smaller size and my AC and my cousins AC and my Uncles AC 650 h1 trV outperformed the polaris atvs. each polaris had to be winched out none of the AC did and my cousin and I went harder and deeper than any other. I rode a polaris and could not tell a difference in ride quality maybe a little? And Gas mileage. I went in with a full tank came out with only one bar down. I went harder the whole time deeper holes, faster straights, and riding hard. The polaris had to use a 2 gallon re fill and still came out they all were on fumes. I like the suzuki brute force 750 I wanted one but fell in love with AC. It is just my opinion, but I rode on a grizzly 600 and 660 and a Polaris 500 and a Can Am and I still think AC is better in the deep mud, the speedrack is amazing, and the gas mileage is right up their with the grizzly.

Who Makes the Best ATV and who makes the WORST

Okay, who makes the best ATV and why?
Who makes the worst and why?
And what does the AtV industry need to improve, fix, or adjust?
The best: Arctic Cat
I ride Arctic Cat and so does all of my family. I have owned 2 and the Cats have been reliable in every situation. They are big bikes with explosive power and have industry leading clearance. They have a ATV for everyone. Utv prowler, 366, and 700 crusier, and the crazy v-twin 1000 thundercat. They have the speedrack system that has many applications.
In addition to MADE IN THE USA!
The worst:
This would be a toss up in my mind. I think Polaris has some bad traits that I dont like, but I also dont like suzuki or honda. I guess the worst would have to be honda. I understand they are rugged but they have yet to help the rider not to completely beat to death. Most AtV makers have gone to Independent Suspension and big boar motors, but I havent seen honda go away from the rancher and gather some size and strength.
what does the AtV industry need to improve, fix, or adjust?
Electric Power steering not just locking the diff and it kicks in, but when your in 4wd. I get into some deep stuff and it would be nice. It would be nice for rocky and difficult terrain as well.
(this is just my opinion please no attacks on anyones comments or ideals)

RE: Legalize ATV's For On Road Use. In All 50 States.

your are right on the gun issues. More guns in citizens hands lower crime. But anyways I found 4,000 on the internet its like a 15 year study. I ride alot and have been injured from riding. 5 broke ribs, both shoulders, and huge scar on my face and head about 8 inches. I still ride every weekend. the number 4,000 is not a lot, but neither is 4,000 in a war over a 5 year period. six million jews were slaughtered in 1939-1945. I am just stating that politics would spin that number and have tons of support in stopping pro atv laws. ask blue ribbon coalition. sign up to day they help protect our rights to land. everyone look up BLM (bureua of land management) everytime a good ridin plays needs help or natural resources are found they show up to close the place down and take the land. it would be nice to ride on secondary roads just to help with trailering but it just wont happen. if everyone wants to see it shoot me a not with your name and contact number and i got some insiders in state and fed gov. we will get a list of everyone to some one like Sen. Bob corker i have talked to hime a few times about stuff.

RE: Legalize ATV's For On Road Use. In All 50 States.

I would love to see on secondary roads a way to get from point a to b with out a trailer and a truck every time. The problem lies with the gov. over 4,000 people have died on trails in tennessee from atvs they would state let them on the road and that will be 40,000 dead. It is a good Ideal other than dot tires (ITP mud lites dont come dot approved)lol. Its sad when americans become politicians and quite being americans. Thats why we cant have guns, teach are own kids, and praise God in school. AGENDAS!
TOP AGENDAS FOR GOV. OFFICIALS
1. TAKE GUNS
2. TAKE AWAY GOD
3. TAKE AWAY TRAILS (ATVS)
4. SELL AMERICA TO CHINA
5. BLAME IT ALL ON SOMEONE ELSE
I'M A REPUBLICAN, BUT GUESS WHAT. ITS REPUBLICANS, LIBERALS, DEMS, CONSERVATIVES. THEY ALL WENT AWAY FROM BEING AMERICANS.
RIDE SAFE, RIDE HARD AND ALWAYS WEAR YOUR GEAR!!
